Papers, 1843-1869.

A scrapbook and three checkbooks kept by Ferris (1843-1869). The scrapbook contains title pages from printed acts passed by the state legislature, some of which were introduced by him. Many relate to road construction and repair in southern Westchester County, N.Y. Annotations give additional information about the bills such as the vote count. Loose correspondence and other items are inserted by a few of the relevant pages. Checkbooks are for an account with Chemical Bank: one is unused (185-) and of the two partially used books (1843-1849, 1864-1867), one contains illustrated checks. Stubs list payee and often what expense the check was for.
